House Rules:

  1. Respect for the Property and its Surroundings:

   - Guests are expected to treat Casa Awänímä's property, animals, buildings, and its surroundings with respect and care.

   - Avoid causing damage to the property, including furniture, appliances, and outdoor amenities. Damage fees will apply. 

   - Refrain from any activities that may result in damage to the natural environment, such as littering or defacing trees and plants.

2. Noise Levels and Quiet Hours:

   - Respect the peace and privacy of other guests and neighboring properties.

   - Quiet hours are observed from 9pm to 9am.

   - Keep noise levels to a minimum during these hours, especially in outdoor areas.

3. No Smoking or Illegal Substances on the Premises:

   - Smoking, including vaping, is strictly prohibited on the entire property of Casa Awänímä.

   - The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited on the premises.

   - This is an alcohol-free space so please do not bring alcohol on property. 

4. Compliance with Local Laws and Regulations:

   - Guests are required to comply with all applicable local laws and regulations during their stay and should familiarize themselves with it prior to arrival.

5. Limitations on the Number of Guests and Visitors:

   - The maximum occupancy of Casa Awänímä is 20 people.

   - Only registered guests are permitted to stay overnight. Any additional guests must be approved in advance by the owner or property manager and may be subject to an additional fee.

7. Parking Instructions:

   - Guests must park in designated parking areas on the road only (4x4 recommended). Owner not responsible for any personal property damage. 

8. Other Rules Deemed Necessary for Enjoyment and Safety:

   - Prohibited activities such as diving into any water features, climbing on roofs, or engaging in dangerous behavior.

   - Use of any provided equipment or facilities (e.g., barbecue grill, fireplace) must be done safely and responsibly.

   - Guests are responsible for securing personal belongings and valuables during their stay.

   - Any damages or maintenance issues must be reported promptly to the owner or property manager.

9. Pack In Pack Out Trash

   - Any outside trash that is brought onsite must be taken out with you if it cannot be safely burnt (paper or cardboard) or packed into bottle bricks (soft plastics that can be reduced in size). There is no local trash services and this is a very important rule to follow, otherwise you are contributing to a large waste problem here at the Lake. 

   - Examples of items you may need to carry offsite with you: plastic water bottles, medicine bottles, empty toiletries, styrofoam, broken misc items, etc.

These expanded rules aim to provide clear guidance to guests, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and respectful experience at Casa Awänímä.

Cancellation policy for individual stays:

To receive a full refund, guests must cancel within 48 hours of booking, and the cancellation must occur at least 14 days before check-in

  • If you cancel 14 or more days before check-in but not within 48 hours of booking, you’ll be charged 50% for all nights

  • If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before check-in, you’ll be charged 50% for all nights

  • If you cancel after that, you’ll be charged 100% for all nights

Payment & Cancellation Policy for Retreat Renters

  • To reserve the entire property at Casa Awänímä we ask a 25% deposit up front at the point you sign a contract with us. 

  • An additional 25% is due 4 months before your retreat start date and again 8 weeks before your retreat start date. Your final payment of 25% is due 6 weeks before your retreat.

Cancellation Policy:

  • You may cancel your retreat up to 4 months in advance of the start date, with a $200 administration fee deducted. Cancellation after this period results in a cancellation fee of $500, or the option to rebook at no charge for a different set of dates. For a cancellation made within 8 weeks of your retreat start date, we cannot offer any refund of fees.

General Release of Liability:

This Personal Injury Waiver (the "Waiver") is made by the undersigned for the purpose of utilizing the facilities and premises managed by Mackenzie Barth, with the location at Casa Awänímä, located in Tzampacah, Tzununa, Department Solola, Guatemala, and in the acknowledgment that in the utilization of the premises and facilities of the Company, the undersigned occupies risk of personal injury that may arise or happen at any time.

I AM AWARE AND UNDERSTAND THAT THE UTILIZATION OF THE PREMISES, FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES PROVIDED BY THE COMPANY IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ACTIVITY AND INVOLVES THE RISK OF PERSONAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURY, PAIN, SUFFERING, TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT DISABILITY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND/OR FINANCIAL LOSS. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ANY INJURIES THAT I SUSTAIN MAY RESULT FROM OR BE COMPOUNDED BY THE ACTIONS, OMISSIONS, OR NEGLIGENCE OF THE COMPANY, INCLUDING NEGLIGENT EMERGENCY RESPONSE OR RESCUE OPERATIONS OF THE COMPANY. 

NOTWITHSTANDING THE RISK, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I AM KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY WITH AN EXPRESS UNDERSTANDING OF THE DANGER INVOLVED AND HEREBY AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS OF INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM MY UTILIZATION OF THE PREMISES, FACILITIES, AND ACTIVITIES PROVIDED BY THE COMPANY, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE OF THE COMPANY OR OTHERWISE.

In consideration of the Company allowing the undersigned to make use of the venue and its facilities and equipment for the relevant purpose by which the Company allows, the undersigned agrees to assume the foreseeable and unforeseeable risk of personal injuries related to the activity, now known or hearafter known, and agrees to release, discharge, defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company, its owner(s) and employees free from any and all liabilities, claims, cause of action, damages, losses, or expenses of whatever kind, which may be incurred by the undersigned in using said premises and its equipment and/or facilities, or engaging in activities programmed by the Company, and which may arise from any reason whatsoever, specifically including, but not limited to, any negligence on the part of the owners, its employees, or losses arising from theft or for any other reason whatsoever. This waiver and release does not extend to claims for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liabilities that law does not permit to be released by agreement. 

I hereby consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary if I am injured or require medical attention during my participation in the Activity. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for all costs related to such medical treatment and any related medical transportation and/or evacuation. I hereby release, forever discharge, and hold harmless the Company from any claim based on such treatment or other medical services.

This Waiver shall be binding upon the parties, their respective heirs, representatives, successors, and assigns.In case any part of this Waiver be construed as improper or invalid, such invalidity will affect only that part of this Waiver and the rest shall remain valid and enforceable.

BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS RELEASE AND THAT I AM VOLUNTARILY GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE THE COMPANY.
